When we last left you, we were in Tombstone, but had yet to visit the historic town. On our way to Bisbee, we ride our tandem on the very streets that Wyatt Earp used to ride his horse.
Evidently, garbage day is still on Wednesdays, just like it was in 1888.
After a long climb, we reach the highest point of our trip, which also happens to be the continental divide.
Because St. Augustine is at sea level, it’s all downhill from here!
Well, it’s all downhill (almost 30 miles!) for the rest of today at least. We descend to Bisbee, a former copper mining town. The mines still remain, huge open pits that scar the landscape.
The mines left in 1975, which allowed the town to reinvent itself as an artsy-touristy area.
Paul McCartney was recently spotted in town. We visit the one and only Bicycle Brothel, which is part bike museum, part bike store.
Tonight, we stay at the historic Gadsen Hotel, built in 1907 in Douglas. It reminds us of the Windsor Hotel in Americus, GA.

A real hotel! Whoo hoo! Enjoy. I’ve been wondering, how sore are you at the end of the day? Or getting up in the morning? I know you guys are in shape, but that’s a lot of time in the saddle! (See what I did there?) Loving the blogs, keep on rolling
Not too sore…the butt hurts more than the legs, which are always a bit tired. Our next rest day is Saturday, and we are looking forward to it!
