We are back in the ATL and I am reflecting on the second half of our stay on the West Coast. I don’t think we could have asked for better weather. Well, okay there was that one ride that was delayed (thirty minutes) by the morning mist, and that other ride that had to be altered at the 10 mile mark (to turn inland) when it became clear that the mist along the coast wasn’t going away.

The riding and the company has been terrific and we are pretty close to our annual mileage goal (more on the numbers later). But it’s been a long visit and I miss home, friends, family and mahjong!
Frequent travel companions Mitzi and John came to stay with us and the fun ensued. Since you “get the whole month” we spent our time together celebrating Mitzi’s Birthday. Nothing makes me happier than a celebration!

Thankfully we also rode our bikes or I’m not sure I would fit comfortably in the airplane seat!

Our route intersected with Dennis and Kathy again, and we also had a Tuesday ride with Britt and Kevin.

Halloween was a beautiful night and we had tons of kids (and their parents) coming by to enjoy the 5th edition of our Candy Chute. Plans are already in motion for next year when the holiday will be on a Friday night!

We were also lucky to spend time with Gene and Elena who came to visit us this time. It wasn’t our best sunset of the trip – but it was fun to be with special people.

The best was saved for last, as the final two nights of our stay featured spectacular sunsets.

Now it’s time to turn it over to Roger so he can crunch some numbers.
- 1933 miles ridden in California this year
- 1221 miles ridden on this visit
- 138 miles to our 5000-mile goal for 2024
- 36 miles, average per ride
- 34 rides in 49 days

We really enjoy reading about your fun times ….and FOOD!
Good Morning. Just wanted to drop you a note to say that I really enjoy reading your blogs and seeing your pictures. My girlfriend and I have a tandem and live in Newport Beach just off Balboa Island, so it was very familiar territory. I am not sure if you’ve ever thought of sharing rides you are going to do, but it would be fun to meet up with you two and/or ride along with you someday.
Thanks again for sharing your adventures. They are great
Steve
What a fun time! Glad you had mostly good weather while you were here.
Wow! Those 2 sunsets would make great photos on canvas to hang as art work. Sooo beautiful!
Mitzi’s cake looked pretty spectacular as well.
