The odyssey begins. The next 19 hours will be our equivalent of Planes, Trains and Automobiles. We are embarking on the longest journey we have ever taken and we can’t leave a car at the airport or outside at the in-laws house. The only solution is to have a limo pick us up and take us and our 2 tandem cases, one ginormous suitcase, one carry on suitcase, 2 backpacks and travel guitar to the airport.
The tandem is in these silver cases, I’ll show the parts and the building process in a later post!
It’s our first time entering the airport via the international terminal at Hartsfield airport. It’s big, it’s bright and it’s not at all crowded on this Monday morning.
We are flying through Toronto to Amsterdam. Yes, it makes the trip longer but we are saving a bundle of travel bucks that we’ll spend elsewhere in our travels.
Back on our next flight with KLM, we have just realized that there will probably be almost no sleep tonight.
Our flight arrives at Amsterdam Schiphol 45 minutes early (it’s now Tuesday at 6:15am local time).
It’s very big and also has a train station as part of the airport which allows us to store 3 pieces of luggage that we won’t need for the first 5 days of our trip.
Call us crazy, but we aren’t done yet because we are now training to Brussels to spend 2 days there before returning to Amsterdam for another 2 days. We have just been informed that our train has been cancelled, but if we hurry down to track 4 we can catch an earlier one (and have to transfer trains in Rotterdam Central).
Everything runs on time and we make our connection and end up at Brussels Centraal
And finally, 19 hours later, The Carmelite Guesthouse, our home for the next two nights.
Coming up next, a Brussels Beer tour!
