Three Weeks Since “The Incident”, an Ankle Update

Let’s review–three days after the fall in Amsterdam:

very swollen and bruised
very swollen and bruised

Ten days after the incident:

swelling down, bruising all over the foot, toes, leg

It’s now three weeks and 495 miles later and here we are:
DSCN1491
Much of the swelling is gone. Most of the bruising is gone, with the remaining bruise now in my calf.
DSCN1492
I took ibuprofen three times a day for a little over two weeks. Research shows that it’s not good for your liver to stay on that stuff long term. During this last week I weaned myself off – and haven’t had any pain meds for over two days. I will not tell you that I have full mobility or that I am pain-free, that wouldn’t be expected three weeks after a sprain of this nature under any circumstances. It feels pretty good and I am happy to be riding. And happy with my 12,000 – 15,000 steps per day…for now!
