STR 2019: The Hosts Look Familiar

Greenwood, South Carolina loved us and we loved them back! Roger and I hosted the Southern Tandem Rally as well as the Georgia Tandem Rally this year.  Yes, we are gluttons for punishment, but we had a blast and it looked like the 80 teams participating had fun as well.

Greenwood boasts the widest Main Street in the USA. Trains used to go down the middle.

The weekend kicked off at the Mill House/ Good Times Brewing with a happy hour party and registration packet pick up.

On Friday morning we rode to Abbeville for muffin-mania.

Abbeville is known as one of the most scenic town squares in South Carolina

Friday evening we partied at the Greenwood Arts Center and enjoyed Brusters ice cream in the courtyard.

A beautiful evening in the courtyard at the Arts Center

Saturday our ride took us to the National Historic Site at Ninety Six and lunch at the Uptown Market.

The Greenwood Fire Department set us up with 100 seats

Saturday night we had a blow-out banquet at Sundance Gallery, complete with a special guest speaker who told us his tales of riding cross country with 3 dads and 4 teenagers.

Sunday we closed out the weekend with a ride to the Promised Land and the Rock House.

It’s hard to review your own rally, but we’ll say that everything went just the way we planned it, especially the spectacular weather.

Why did the geese cross the road…?

The summer heat broke the day before we arrived.  Each morning dawned clear and cool.  Sixty degrees at ride start and 80 at ride end each day.  What more could we ask for?

Next up we fly west for some riding in SoCal.  Nancy, Michael, Britt and Kevin – we’ll see you soon!

  1. Best STR ever!!! Seriously, we so enjoyed everything about Greenwood, SC, and it was because y’all make it so easy to find the best of the best in the area and the quality of the folks who continue to follow both GTR and STR events. Here’s hoping we’re still doing all of this crazy stuff for at least the next decade!!!! Love Y’all…
