Cycling Thru the Super Bloom

The weather was cool and a bit wet, but nonetheless, we enjoyed our time on the West Coast. After Tucson we had about three weeks to ride some of our favorite bike routes and appreciate the considerate drivers of Orange County.

Upon our return we enjoyed some companionship with local tandem friends. And lots of fantastic blooms courtesy of the wet winter (and spring).

It’s usually much “browner” this time of year, but the hills are certainly alive.

My favorite purple blooms – The Pride of Madeira (they have a lot to be proud of)!

Before we wrapped up our trip, we took a jaunt to Laguna Beach to dine and drink at the famous Royal Hawaiian, a fixture since 1947. It was our son who sent us on a (fun) fact-finding mission to the Tiki Bar!

Out on the town!
We enjoyed a Purple Haze and a Mai Tai
And we ended our date with sunset from the Laguna angle.

I would be remiss and I would disappoint my fans if I didn’t share some treat photos! Although there was no ice cream there were visits to bakeries.

Lemon pound cake
Coconut scone
Iced cruller twist

We are back home now and deep into Georgia Tandem Rally preps. We’ve got a busy summer coming up – we’ll check back in with you after Memorial Day.

Thanks to Britt for this photo

And one last thing, there was a significant amount of rain during our stay, but remember, if it doesn’t rain you won’t ever get to see a rainbow!
