Coast 2 Coast Day 34: Flatlining in Eastern Texas

You know you’ve been spending a lot of time with your bike when 60 miles on the route sheet means it’s a short day!  There is little wind and decent road surfaces and we make good time.

End city: Silsbee, TX

Fatigue factor: 4 out of 10
Wind: NW 5-10 mph, favorable for the entire day
Road condition: 4 out of 5

The 60 miles today is flat. Welcome to Eastern Texas.

The scenery reminds us of home (Atlanta) because its lush and green with lots of lawns, trees and a few creeks that actually have water in them.

For the past few days the logging trucks have been our constant companions.  For the most part they have been polite and considerate partners on the roads.

Our lunch is at Mama Jacks, a local gem where the staff and the diners are very welcoming and fascinated by our trek across the USA.  We even sign a guest book!

For our last night in Texas we are in an RV park where relaxation will be on the agenda this afternoon.

And as a bonus, it’s Tex-Mex night.

Tomorrow: we cross a state line, and get the heck out of Texas! Will they invite us back?
